I'm a full-time Nanny and a part-time bookkeeper to a nonprofit. I absolutely love to garden--growing food, herbs and flowers in square-foot, raised beds and containers! And, I LOVE to cook, using all these clean, fresh ingredients! (See the tab above for Table for One--Single Serving Recipes.)

I'm a "Mimi" to three sweetie-pies--and I love spending time with my WONDERFUL family. I love to read, blog, sketch and watercolor in my free time. I enjoy calligraphy and crafting, and I absolutely believe that crocheting and knitting is a necessary therapy!

In my past life, I was an admin assistant/office manager (yawn) but I've also had  several other "J.O.B.'s" that were pretty fun--and I'm still reaping the creative juices from them! Here's just a few of the hats I've worn:

  • I'm "Mom" to two ah-mazing kids (now grown and SUPER creative themselves)! One is a fabulous SAHM/graphic designer, who makes 25 crockpot freezer meals before giving birth and has time for crafts and "school" with her 4-year-old. The other works for a roofing/construction company, but flips houses, boats, cars on the side! He's quite the salesman--I've always told him he could sell ice cubes to Eskimos!

  • I've been a temp girl at an advertising agency and full-time typesetter at a print shop, back in the day when everything was typeset and pasted onto a copy that was then striped onto film for a real live printing press. Yeah, we called that person a striper. haha Basically, I'm old.

  • I was a preschool teacher and substitute elementary schoolteacher...my kids begged me not to follow them to middle school...haha!

  • I became a designer for a local florist--> and delivery girl <--which was my fav...making someone's day by delivering beautiful flowers!

  • I was a retailer and buyer for a local day spa (It's SO MUCH FUN spending someone else's money!)

  • I had an interior decorating biz--was a fabricator (seamstress) and installer of window treatments and other soft furnishings for the home. That was SO much fun!

  • I've been called upon for my proofreading and editing skills (please don't critique my blog--because this is just for fun!) haha

  • And currently, I'm a full-time Nanny on my fifth gig!

I try to be creative with my days. We all have to make a living, but I get to create fruit and vegetable salads for my Nanny families, prepare healthy lunches--and fortunately, they LOVE all things organic and fresh! At home, I seriously enjoy making my own goatsmilk soaps and body butters, pouring my own soy candles with cotton wicks, concocting earth-friendly cleansers and household cleaners (I feel like a mad scientist), and developing delicious recipes for one! I love canning and preserving home-grown, market-fresh veggies and fruits, like my sweet momma used to do.

I'm learning the old timey art of baking--using secret family recipes with my dad who is now head chef, trying my hand at basic (very basic) photography, looking into sales strategies and marketing, and practicing perserverance and dedication to things I'm most passionate about. I'm constantly scaling down and exploring the trend of tiny living, so I'm sharpening my organizational and minimalism skills and sharing what I learn with you.

As a single gal (I'm old enough to use that term), I now have "time" to create, explore and develop new skills since my children are grown. I'm basically "growing me!" It's a good life I lead. I love the Lord and strive to be the person He created me to be. This life is a gift!

Oh yeah--I'm also back to journaling and writing (with hopes of publishing), since I'm sooooo good at talking! LOL

But mainly...

I'm your basic, small-town "city girl" with a rekindled passion for gardening--an energetic person, with an optimistic outlook on this crazy "single again" life, who hopes to inspire other urban gardeners of all ages and stages, to join the movement of organic food production, fresh, delicious, easy recipes, organized living, and hand-crafted items! I'm hard at work on growing a healthier, happier, more creative life!
