How is our produce grown?
Fresh, Clean Foods
I've always loved eating fresh, clean foods. As I've gotten older, I realize that eating healthy means less trips to the doc, less sick days and more time for fun! Woohoo!! I frequent farmers markets (my kind of fun) and hometown grocery stores, county fairs, and roadside stands to find the best produce I can get for my money.
I'm extremely frugal-slash-broke being "single again" and am on a squeaky-tight budget, so I'm very concerned with quality and price. But lately, I've been extremely concerned about how my produce is grown. What type of soil does it grow in? Are pesticides and chemicals used on the plants? What am I actually consuming? Am I eating myself sick? Can I save money growing my own vegetables and herbs?
High-Heeled Gardener is dedicated to square-foot and container gardening, the organic way! I've always lived in the city and finding space for a garden has sometimes been an issue. Many of my friends live in apartments and duplexes or have limited yard space. There is no longer any excuse for not having a garden. I'll share ideas for gardening in small spaces and innovative container and vertical gardening ideas.
What does the near future hold? The next logical step is a gardening biz--customized seeds, pots, tools and accessories. I'm excited about this business and hope to share lots of ideas and how-tos. Please feel free to browse this website!--And make it OFTEN!!
