Knitting on a Loom...
This year for Christmas, I am enjoying making lots of handmade, homemade, creative gifts!
Here's a knitted hat I made on a small loom with 24 posts. The hat is the size of a newborn. :)

First, I put on my jammies (haha) and used two strands of the same yarn for thickness. You can use only one strand, but it's winter and c-c-cold! You just wrap the posts in a clockwise motion until you get all the way around, and then you wrap it in the same way forming a second row.

Then with a handy "hook," I bring the bottom loop over the top and work my way around the loom in a counter-clockwise direction.

Random: I got a new ring with my granddaughter's birthstone. Pretty, huh?

Then, after repeating that for approximately 10-12 rows, I folded the "brim" up over from the bottom and looped each stitch over the posts.

Here it is in the stage of making the brim. Unlike this photo (below), it is really easy to see the loops to add to the posts.

There!

After making the "brim", I wrapped another row on the posts in the same manner as above and continued wrapping and looping until the hat was about 5-6 inches long. Sorry, it got dark on me (below)! haha

Tying it off is easy too, with a large eyed needle. Once you have your hat finished, with it still on the loom, cut the remaining thread(s) about 10-12 inches long. Thread the needle through one loop at a time and lift the loop off the loom. Continue this all the way around.

Once you've completely removed the hat from the loom, pull the thread like a drawstring, push through to the inside, and tie it off. Voila! A newborn hat! (If you want to make a larger hat, get a larger loom! It's that simple!)

And here it is in the light once I was able to get up and turn it on! When I get on a roll, I get on a roll !!! haha
