Bah Humbug...Christmas is over!
OCD for "Organized Christmas Decorations"...
It's that time again, when all the glitz and glam of Christmas has to come down and it never seems to go back into those tubs or containers or paper bags quite the same way. So, why not take a few extra minutes and totally re-organize your Christmas decorations? It's super EASY with virtually nothing to buy!
Periodically, throughout the weeks prior to Christmas, I started collecting banker's boxes from the recycle bin at work. If you don't have access to recycled banker's boxes, they usually cost between $1.50 to $2.00 each in a box of 5 or 10 at most office supply stores or discount stores. Their portable size, nice lids and handy "handles" make them PERFECT for storage boxes, especially for the top of a closet!
I have been accused of keeping everything...never throwing anything away and reusing whatever I have on hand! Haha...Well, that's okay. I keep the boxes that my ornaments come in. I mean, why go buy special boxes that hold them when they are provided for you upon purchase?? Duh...
I also use the decorative boxes I've collected over the years...the boxes that cookies come in and the boxes in which people give me gifts! I sit them around during Christmas as decorations, but afterwards, they serve a dual purpose. STORAGE!
I reuse the tissue paper that I get inside my gifts, also. My friends and family kind of make fun of me, but they usually hand me back my bows or gift bags (which I also reuse on next year's gifts--and if the tags stay attached, they might get another gift in the same bag! haha). They have started to return the crinkled, used tissue paper, too!
My kids are married now, with budgets of their own, and I think they "get it"--or at least they "get me". I think. Hmmm?? Well, years ago, I'm pretty sure they just thought I was a bit nuts! But I LOVE to recycle!
I reuse gift boxes given to me, not just boxes that I purchase for gifts. I'll wrap similar ornaments in tissue and place in any and all Christmas gift boxes I've accumulated too! HINT: Did you get new boots this year? If you don't plan on storing your boots in them, use your large boot box for storing lights or stockings!
I'm pretty sure you're getting the idea, and I think you're learning a little more about OCD me, but here is my AWESOME Christmas organized bank boxes, gift boxes and super-cool, organized Christmas closet! Merry Organizing!!
Ta-Da...
P.S. Yes, that's a 72-piece tree. In a larger box. Don't EVEN get me started on this tree. You really should check what's IN the box (not just check the picture on the outside) when you meet a sketchy dude in an Ace Hardware parking lot to purchase a tree. Just sayin'...
